Sam’s Santry Success: St Pat’s Athletics Team perform brilliantly at Santry!

St Pat’s student Sam Steenson took an excellent third place in the sixth-class category at the Clonliffe Harriers Dublin Schools cross-country meeting in Santry on 2 October.

St Pat’s entered three teams in the event covering fourth, fifth and sixth classes. There were four boys in each team and to a man they ran their hearts out.

Primary and secondary schools from across Dublin took part in the annual event which kicks off the schools racing calendar each year.

Well done, Sam! And well done to all the other boys who competed and represented our school. Big thanks to Mr Skelly as well for accompanying the boys and organising our involvement in the event.

FriendSHIP Week at St Pat’s!

Last week we marked Friendship and Anti-Bullying Week in St Pat’s with the theme of FriendSHIP.

The children took part in activities (including art, music, drama, games and discussion) to highlight the importance of developing and maintaining meaningful friendships.

We also explored the topic of bullying in all the classes. We talked about the ways a person can bully, the effects on the person being bullied, the role of others (‘upstanders’ rather than ‘bystanders’!) and the various people the children can talk to if they’re worried or upset about bullying. Cyber-bullying was also explored in senior classes.

Well done to all the girls and boys for their wonderful participation. And thanks to Ms Quinn for organising!

Take a look at some of the action from last week…

Welcome changes – and excitement – as girls join Junior Infants, and our Autism Class opens!

It has been an exciting time in St Patrick’s NS recently as our Junior Building has welcomed girls to Junior Infants for the first time in our (nearly) 130 year history!

We have also opened our first Autism Class, which marks the culmination of a successful collaborative effort from so many people over the past few months.

We wish the girls (and boys!) of Junior Infants, and the pupils of the Autism Class, all the best as they settle in to their new classes!

Have a super year, everyone!

In the photos we can see the children gathered and listening attentivly at their first Junior School assembly, busy at work in their classrooms, and the stunning new set up in the Autism Class area.

We are so proud of you all!

Spelling Bee Success

Major congratulations to Conor (Ms Baxter’s 5th class) and Dimitri (Mr Tubridy’s 5th class) who represented the school yesterday in the Eason Spelling Bee and the North Dublin Spelling Bee, respectively.

Both boys did extremely well, facing stiff competition.

We are delighted to announce that Conor and Dimitri both managed to get to the 4th round of their respective competitions – an amazing achievement!

Well done to Conor and Dimitri, and thanks so much to them both for representing St Pat’s!

Thanks also to Ms Duffy and Mr Duffy who organised the qualifying Spelling Bee event in the school.

Seachtain na Gaeilge 2024

Bhí ceol agus craic againn ar scoil an tseachtain seo caite le haghaidh Seachtain na Gaeilge 2024!

There was lots of action around the school – from Tráth na gCeist in Ms Gallagaher’s 4th class, to a little parade in the Junior School.

We all took part in the Ceolchoirm last Friday. There were some wonderful performances from the lads in Junior Infants all the way up to 6th class – maith na buachaillí!

The Trad Soc. from DCU, St Patrick’s Campus, held a lovely session for the Junior and Senior infants, while the rest of the pupils headed to the pitch to watch the Noblesville, Indiana marching band prepare for their appearance in Sunday’s Dublin parade.

You can check out some of the festivities here!

Table Tennis Victory for St Pat’s!

St Pat’s table tennis A team continued their successful run in the Leinster Schools Table Tennis Cup 2023/4 with an emphatic 5-1 win against Gonzaga.
St Pat’s took an early lead when Nathan Tunney and Carlo Scardaccione won their singles matches in straight sets. After Ronan O’Sullivan went down fighting against the talented Gonzaga number one, Alex Tynan snatched an exciting victory to leave St Pat’s three games to one ahead after the singles. Needing to win only one of their doubles matches to seal overall victory, St Pat’s wasted no time putting the tie to bed thanks to a superb straight sets win by James Greenan and Ryan MacDonald. Ronan and Alex rounded off a memorable team performance with a hard-fought five-set win. Overall score: St Pat’s 5: Gonzaga 1.
The win was all the more impressive given their opponents were all first years in secondary school. St Pat’s now march into the semi-final where they will face an even sterner test. But given the team’s form and talent it’s all still to play for. C’mon St Pat’s!
