Today the boys and girls of St Pat’s celebrated World Book Day. It is an annual event that we all look forward to. Many of the children wore pyjamas to ‘cuddle up with a book’, while others took inspiration from their favourite book characters!

Yesterday the 4th, 5th, and 6th class pupils were enthralled by a talk by Irish children’s author and illustrator Alan Nolan. He kept the boys and girls entertained for ninety minutes with illustrating tips, extracts from his new novel, and a Q&A session.

Next week the pupils of 1st, 2nd and 3rd class will hear a talk from another Irish author; Brianóg Brady Dawson.

Today also included ‘Book Buddies’, opportunities for DEAR time (Drop Everything And Read), and lots more reading-related fun!

Well done to all involved, and hopefully the pupils will have a chance to spend their World Book Day tokens in the coming weeks!
