Successful Sports Week at St Pat’s!

What a week it’s been for the pupils of St Pat’s!

All the children have been taking part in their own class Sports Day, beginning last Friday, June 11th, and culminating today, June 18th, with the arrival of the ice-cream van to provide some well-deserved treats for all the boys and girls!

We have been blessed with both the weather, and with being able to utilise DCU’s fantastic new 3G pitch!

The pupils have been involved in a wide and varied range of sporting activities (including rounders, novelty races, tag rugby, GAA, soccer, obstacle courses, penalty shoot-outs, dodgeball, tugs-of-war and benchball) over the past six days, and we’re sure you’ll agree that the photographs below help to capture some of the fun, action and sportsmanship that make Sports Day such a hotly-anticipated and much-loved annual event in the St Pat’s calendar.

A huge well done to all those who helped to make Sports Week a success, and a special thanks to all the pupils who showed great enthusiasm throughout!

We hope the children enjoy a rest this weekend ahead of the final eight days of the 2020/21 school year.

We took lots of photos…Enjoy!

Bloomsday Festivities

Earlier this week Ms Leahy’s 5th class enjoyed seeing the “Joycean Jaunt” in Drumcondra for Bloomsday 2021.

They were so attentive as they listened to poetry and readings at James Joyce Court, located across from the park.

It was great to see all the fashion from Joycean times!
Thanks to all involved!

Sponsored Walk Week in St Pat’s!

This week all the classes will be undertaking walking challenges in the hopes of raising money for new interactive smartboards.

Today saw two Senior Infant classes (Ms Power’s and Mr Ryan’s) walk around our local park, Griffith Park. The boys all wore their hi-vis jackets, had some lovely chats along the way, and behaved impeccably. Well done, boys!

It was great to get some fresh air in the sunshine. Check out these photos and video.

Celebrating Seachtain na Gaeilge and Lá Fhéile Pádraig at St Pat’s!

There was great craic and excitement yesterday at St Pat’s when we all celebrated Seachtain na Gaeilge and Lá Fhéile Pádraig!

The boys from Junior and Senior Infants paraded around the yard in their super green outfits while the pupils from 1st-3rd class, and the Junior DLD class, learned some Irish dancing from Ms Mullally on their yard!

Meanwhile, 4th-6th class boys and the Senior DLD class did an exercise session in their yard ‘as Gaeilge’ with Ms Sansom and Ms Gallagher.

Later, the excitement reached fever pitch as Ms Power’s Senior Infants won the Biongó, with Mr Maguire’s 1st class winning over on the Senior Building side. Both classes were awarded with uachtar reoite!

The photos below capture some of the good fun from yesterday…enjoy!

Wishing all our pupils, and their families, a lovely Lá Fhéile Pádraig today!

Ms O’Sullivan’s boys explore the grounds of DCU!

The boys in Ms O’Sullivan’s class are so happy to be back in school!
They have been making the most of the recent good weather to get outside and look for signs of spring. They made so many exciting discoveries and had lots of fun!
We are so lucky here in St Pat’s to have the beautiful grounds of DCU Institute of Education on our doorstep.
Check out these lovely photos of Ms O’Sullivan’s class!

Commemorating Bloody Sunday, 1920 at St Pat’s

Cumann na mBunscol and the GAA president, John Horan, visited our school recently to commemorate past pupil, John William Scott, who was tragically killed at Croke Park on Bloody Sunday, 1920.

We were pleased to accept a beautiful tribute, and are happy that the memory of John William Scott will be immortalised in St Pat’s BNS. Our 5th class pupils did a lot of research into the events of that day and used the old roll books as historical evidence in searching for information about our past pupil.
