Our final assembly of the academic year 2015/2016 took place on Thursday the 9th of June. There were many items on the agenda!
The teachers congratulated all the boys who took part in the many sporting activities throughout the year including basketball, soccer, athletics and gaelic.
We also said goodbye to the members of the Green School Committee who are leaving the school or just finished their two years on the committee. Mr. Kilcrann urged other pupils to think about running for the new committee next year. There were three winners announced from the art, poetry and logo competition on Biodiversity. Well done to all the boys who entered. The standard was very high so a huge congratulations to the winners!
The 'One Good Idea' group thanked the school for their support in helping them get to be one of the 20 schools picked to go the the semi-finals of the competition.
Ms. Collins told us about the money the sixth class boys haved raised for charity. They donated a percentage of their money from their Confirmation to Dogs Trust which resulted in over €1000 being collected. Cormac Clancy a volunteer with the Irish Cancer Society was also on hand and greatfully accepted the money raised from the Bake Sale.
Ms. Gallagher reminded the pupils of the Penalty Shoot Out which is to be held on Monday the 13th of June in aid of Special Olympics.
Mr. Moriarty congratulated the pupils on a fantastic year and praised them all for their excellent behaviour throughout the year. We all gave the 6th classes a huge round of applause and wished them luck on their journey to secondary.
Fr. Stephen finished assembly by announcing to the staff and pupils of the school that he will be leaving us and heading to Ethiopia to carry out work in a school and become a Bee Keeper!!
