Assembly Friday 16th October-Visit from John Small

The whole senior school gathered at 1pm for the first assembly of the year. We began and ended assembly by singing the National Anthem guided by Mrs. Daly and Ms. Higgins. We are practising Amhrán na bhFiann for Tuesday the 20th of October when, as part of the 'Flags for Schools Initiative' a member of the Defence Forces will present a National Flag and a copy of the Proclamation to our school. This is part of the 2016 Centenary Programme.

Mr. Duffy and two of our pupils spoke about the fantastic job our Senior Football team have done this year so far with a final approaching on Wednesday the 21st of October in Croke Park! Mr. Moraghan congratulated the Junior Football Team for their efforts so far this year also. Mr. Quinn spoke about our Basketball Team and how their training sessions are going on.

First class also got a special mention for their fantastic projects on Travel and Transport which can be seen displayed outside the first classes while Ms. Higgins reminded the boys of our Halloween Art Competition.

Finally we had a very speical guest and past pupil visit! John Small who is a member of the Dublin Football squad spoke to us about his road to Croke Park this year and what it entails to be playing at this level. Mr. Kilcrann interviewed John in an interview that was fit for 'The Sunday Game'! All the students were delighted to see John and some of the 6th class boys got an opportunity to quiz John afterwards.

John finished off his visit by presenting the new Green School Committee with their Green Schools Badges which I am sure they will wear with pride!
