Green School News Flash!

The Green School Committee have received the news that we have all been waiting for since our assessment visit last Friday. We have successfully maintained our three green flags under the themes of Litter & Waste, Energy and Water. More importantly we were also informed that we have achieved our fourth Green Flag, on the theme of Travel and Transport. This is another huge success for everyone here at the school. Pupils and teachers have been working on the travel and transport theme over the past two years, and the previous themes also had to be covered and woven through all areas of the curriculum. On May 19th we will receive our flag at a special award ceremony in The Helix at DCU.

Mr Clerkin our Principal and Mr Kilcrann coordinator of the Green School Project here at St Patrick’s BNS, together with representatives of the committee will be presented with the fourth flag on the day. On Monday June 22nd we will then host our flag raising ceremony here at the school. Congratulations to everyone involved. Pupils and staff can be rightly proud of this remarkable achievement. A very special thank you to the parents who have shown the project such positive support in many ways, and who arranged guest speakers as well as making the necessary arrangements for our committee to go on specially arranged trips to support the work of the Green School Committee over the past number of years.

Mr M Kilcrann
